Volunteer Minibus Drivers Urgently Needed

People living with sight loss in West Sussex need your support today! To ensure that a diagnosis of sight loss is not a one way road to isolation 4Sight Vision Support are in urgent need of Minibus Volunteers to drive members to and from clubs and social activities.

We urgently need support in Littlehampton, as the club struggles to meet due to transport not being available and may have to close.

4Sight Vision Support are also recruiting support across the county to support our 30+ volunteer led clubs.

One member explained the difference attending their club has made to their life:
“You can have the most loving and supporting family around you but still feel very lonely living with sight loss. They don’t really know how to cope but they do try their best” … “Since I have started coming to the 4Sight Vision Support club, my life has changed completely. I have met wonderful friends and we have a good laugh.”
Your role, as a volunteer Minibus driver, will ensure members can travel to the clubs and social activities in the local area. These activities aim to empower people living with sight loss to participate fully in their community, meet other people and stay active.

Our clubs often meet on weekdays on a fortnightly basis, however any support you can give will make a positive difference for people living with sight loss. Get in touch today to ask any questions and find out more details.

Specific requirements of the role include: • Clean, full driving licence • D1 on licence and desirable to have previous minibus driving experience.

Taking time to volunteer will make a huge difference for our members and enables people living with sight loss to meet others in a similar situation, bringing much encouragement and support. Some of our clubs have to cancel meetings and will face the possibility of closure, unless we can support them with safe and vital transport for their members.

Our members often are no longer able to drive due to their sight loss, have no transport of their own and some find using public transport difficult:

“I support a lady who is registered as partially sighted and is unable to drive or travel on public transport on her own. We were delighted to find a 4Sight Vision Support club. They made her very welcome and she has made many good friends at the club. Their activities are stimulating and keep her up to date with what is going on in our community.”

Sight loss can happen to anyone of us at any time. Everyday 250 people in the UK begin to lose their sight. Today there are 30,000 people with sight loss in West Sussex alone.

Help us create a community that inspires and mentors its peers to maintain and transform their own lives into positive and fulfilling ones after sight loss.

‘I left feeling much better knowing of all the support that such a group can give its members at all stages of their eye problems and all their needs in everyday living.’
